The Security Screener will work with highly intelligent x-ray software to inspect items, determine whether items contain objects that warrant further investigation, and alert baggage screeners or handlers to any possible problems.RESPONSIBILITIES:Inspect items, using x-ray viewing equipment, to determine whether items contain objects that warrant further investigationView images of bags and cargo, using remote screening equipment, and alert baggage screeners or handlers to any possible problemsCommunicate situation details to appropriate personnelNotify supervisors or other appropriate personnel when security breaches occurCommunicate situation details to appropriate personnelSend items through automated screening machines, and set bags aside for searching or rescreening as indicated by equipmentInspect to identify potential hazardsRecord information about any baggage that sets off alarms in monitoring equipmentRecord information about suspicious objectsContact leads or supervisors to discuss objects of concern that are not on prohibited object listsCommunicate situation details to appropriate personnelPerform patrols, access control, and other security functions as neededQualifications/Requirements:Qualified applicants for the Professional Security Officer position will meet the minimum requirements, as described below:At least 18 years of age; 21 for Armed or Taser positions.High school diploma, College Degree, or GED. Education must be verifiable through the background vendor. (Certificates of Course Completion not acceptable).Must have 5 years of work experience within the last 5 years, with a minimum of 2 years verifiable work history.As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation and Drug Screen in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws. Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws. (No open/pending charges acceptable)Valid guard card/license, as required in the state for which you are applying. Driving Positions Only: Must possess a valid Driver's License with at least one year of driving experience, a clean driving record (no major violations within last 36 months, no more than 1 accident in last 24 months, no more than one minor moving violation in last 24 months), a minimum level of insurance as required by Company policy, and the ability to safely operate a vehicle required.Must possess effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the public in a professional and effective manner; must be able to use initiative and independent judgment within established guidelinesMust be able to frequently prepare written reports and logs in neat, legible handwriting; may require computer skillsAs a condition of continued employment, employee must always maintain current active status of all required License, and must always carry the license while on dutyAbility to handle both common and crisis situations at the client site, calmly and efficientlyAnswer phones or greet guests / employees in a professional, welcoming manner Read, understand, and clearly speak English; constantly use speech and hearing in communicating with public/co-workers, giving and receiving instructions, using phonesMust be able to handle pressure of working with high volume general public (constantly to occasionally depending on assignment)BONUS QUALIFICATIONS (NOT REQUIRED):Minimum of one (1) year of security screening experience, preferably utilizing x-ray technology (e.g., TSA)Strong work ethicExceptional attention to detailAbility to self-manageExcellent oral and written communication skillsGrooming/Uniform Standards: The grooming standards for this job include:The uniform will be clean and worn properly, in a professional manner at all times the uniform is worn. No visible face or neck tattoos. Fingernails cannot be no longer than inch from the tip of the finger.The client's ID badge will be worn at all times while on client property in accordance with site policy.Footwear must be slip resistant.If N-95 masks are required by site, Facial hair will not allow for proper wear of a particulate mask. CDC Hand Hygiene Standards will be adhered to at all times. Perfumes or cologne, or other smells which could impact patients with respiratory ailments, will not be worn in excess.Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) will be worn as appropriate to job roles and duties performedThe use of personal electronic devices is prohibited while on post/patrol except in designated areas specified by client policyPhysical and Mental Functions:Climb and descend stairs to all floors of the hospital in the event elevators are not accessible due to mechanical issues or emergency situations.Occasionally bend/twist at waist/knees/neck to perform various dutiesAssist in lifting patients as needed to either assist nursing staff or help transport expired patientsRestrain violent/combative patients to prevent injuries to themselves and othersRun as neededWork in various environments including adverse outdoor conditions such as cold, rain or heat.BENEFITS:Medical, dental, vision, basic life, AD&D, and disability insuranceEnrollment in our company's 401(k)plan, subject to eligibility requirementsSeven holidays annually paid at time and a half, if worked40 hours of vacation after one year of employment at eligible work assignments.
