Position Summary
The College of Education and Human Sciences (COEHS) seeks applicants for the
Non-Clinical Patient Navigator position to support the Comadre a Comadre (CAC) program. The mission of the program is to empower the lives of Hispanic/Latina women through advocacy, support, education, navigation, resources & research for breast health and breast cancer.
Under indirect supervision of the Director, this position will:
- Provide patient navigation and follow-up for individuals who self-refer or are referred needing assistance with cancer screening, diagnostic and treatment medical appointments, low-cost or free screening mammograms, pap tests, cancer services, and access to a primary care physician or community clinic.
- Assist patients by navigating individuals to internal resources provided by the Program and external community or social agencies or community resources.
- Help patients navigate access and address barriers to care, serving as an advocate for patients.

Conditions of Employment
- Possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license is a requirement for this job.
- Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
- Fingerprinting, and subsequent clearance, may be required for this position depending on assignment.
- Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual Spanish-English
- Previous experience or knowledge in navigating cancer or breast cancer patients
- Experience in working with the Hispanic/Latinx community
