WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

CertainTeed is a North American manufacturer of building materials for both commercial and residential construction. The CertainTeed location in Athens, GA, is looking for a self-motivated student to assist with value add project solutions in our insulation plant. The student will have the opportunity to make an impact in an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) department at the center of a complex insulation manufacturing site. This role will assist in a variety of projects, and will have exposure to the core processes of the business, including process improvement, safety analysis, environmental monitoring, troubleshooting and continuous improvement activities. The role will also include exposure to insulation manufacturing processes including preparation of molten glass, fiberizing wool fiberglass matt, curing the binder-coated fiberglass matt and packaging operations.

This position will work in a cross-functional “Think Tank” team environment to include engineering and maintenance skills.

Responsibilities

• Work daily with the EHS Manager and Environmental Engineer
• Participate in activities related to manufacturing projects including continuous improvement and process efficiency
• Daily/weekly monitoring and improvements to safety reporting systems
• Assist EHS, Process Engineering, and supervisors with job safety analysis and other procedural improvements
• Take an active part in the execution of development projects.
• Develop and integrate documentation processes to ensure consistency and accuracy
• Provide project status updates as required.
• Works under close supervision of the EHS Manager and Environmental Engineer

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

• Must be currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree program, majoring in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering, or other related practice
• GPA must be greater than or equal to 3.0 GPA
• Relevant coursework or previous internships preferred
